A staple is one of the oldest forms of fasteners used to bind things together. It is a two-pronged metal bent to form a loop or a flat crown, sometimes with sharpened edges to make piercing through objects easier. Paper staples are more durable and permanent to use in fastening paper documents than paper clips. Staples are often made out of zinc plated steel or stainless steel wires.
